# How to install the RUIT extension

Install the RUIT Chrome extension and connect Wallapop, Vinted and the rest of your marketplaces to your account in a couple of minutes.

You install the extension **from the RUIT app itself**, under Settings → Extensions → Connect
Extension. That button opens the Chrome Web Store listing, and once you add it the extension links
itself to your account: there is no key to copy anywhere.

## What is the extension for?

Wallapop and Vinted **have no public API**. The extension is what lets RUIT talk to them: it uses the
session you already have open in your browser to import your listings, publish, receive messages and
detect sales. Marketplaces that do have an API (eBay, Shopify, WooCommerce, PrestaShop and
Todocolección) connect without it.

## Which browsers work?

Any **Chromium-based** one: Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi. **Firefox and Safari are not
supported**, because the extension relies on APIs that only exist in Chromium.

On mobile **we do not support any browser**. Chrome allows no extensions on the phone, and ours also
needs an internal Chromium API (the one behind *offscreen* documents) to keep the connection open:
where that API is missing, the extension never starts. On a phone, connect the account from the app
itself, or open RUIT on a computer.

## How do I install it, step by step?

1. In the app, go to **Settings → Extensions**.
2. Press **Connect Extension**. The extension's Chrome Web Store listing opens.
3. Press **Add to Chrome** and confirm.
4. Go back to the RUIT tab. The extension already shows up as connected in the list.

It is worth **pinning it to the toolbar**: click the puzzle-piece icon and hit the pin next to RUIT.
That way you can see its connection status at a glance, without opening any menu.

## Can I have several extensions at once?

Yes, and it is the normal setup if you work from more than one machine. Each install shows up as a
separate extension under **Settings → Extensions**, and you can **rename them** to tell them apart
("workshop laptop", "home desktop"). From there you can also see which marketplace accounts hang off
each one, and remove the ones you no longer use.

Keep in mind that **each marketplace account is tied to the extension it was connected from**. If you
delete that extension, those accounts stop syncing until you reconnect them from another one.

## What if the extension shows as disconnected?

What keeps it connected is **your RUIT session in that same browser**, not the marketplace one. If
you have signed out of ruit.es there, sign back in and the extension reconnects by itself within
seconds. The other two usual causes are having the browser closed altogether and the extension being
disabled: check that in `chrome://extensions`.

The **marketplace** session expiring is a different matter: the extension stays connected, but
operations on that account fail with a **No Response** warning. That one is fixed by opening the
marketplace in a tab and signing in.
