# What happens when a marketplace session expires

What an account's statuses mean, why access to each marketplace expires, what stops working in the meantime and how to fix it.

RUIT does not store your passwords: it keeps access to each marketplace, and on some marketplaces
that access expires. When that happens, the account's card in **Linked Accounts** says so and the
**Reconnect** button appears. Your listings stay published and nothing is deleted.

## An account's statuses

| Status | What it means | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Connected** | RUIT can work with the account | Nothing |
| **Renewal pending** | The access has expired, but RUIT can still renew it | Usually nothing: it renews by itself. If not, **Reconnect** |
| **Expired** | RUIT has not been able to renew it | **Reconnect**. On Wallapop and Vinted, if you have closed the extension's browser, just open it |

RUIT checks your accounts every 5 minutes and renews the ones it can by itself.

Vinted (1) and Wallapop, expired because the extension's browser is closed. The others are still
**Connected**.

## Why it expires on each marketplace

| Marketplace | When it expires | How to fix it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Wallapop** | When Wallapop signs you out, when you sign in with another Wallapop account in the extension's browser or when you close that browser | If you closed it, open it and the account renews by itself. If not, sign in to Wallapop in that browser and press **Reconnect** |
| **Vinted** | When you close the extension's browser. With the browser open, RUIT renews the session every two hours and, if Vinted ends it, tries to recover it from your browser | If you closed it, open it and the account renews by itself. If not, sign in to Vinted in that browser and press **Reconnect** |
| **eBay** | RUIT renews the permission by itself. The account expires if eBay rejects it | **Reconnect** or, if the card asks for it, **Link again**: you authorize RUIT on eBay again |
| **Shopify** | With your keys, RUIT asks Shopify for a one-day permission and renews it by itself. It expires if Shopify rejects the keys | It goes back to **Connected** by itself when Shopify accepts the keys again. If you have changed them, connect it again with the new ones |
| **Todocolección** and **IberLibro** | Their keys do not expire, but the account switches to **Expired** if the marketplace rejects the reading of your orders three times in a row | **Reconnect** |
| **WooCommerce** and **PrestaShop** | Their keys do not expire | Nothing to fix |

**Reconnect** repeats the connection as in each marketplace's tutorial, and each tutorial has a
section for when something does not work: [Connect Wallapop](https://ruit.es/en/docs/connect-wallapop/),
[Connect Vinted](https://ruit.es/en/docs/connect-vinted/) or [Connect eBay](https://ruit.es/en/docs/connect-ebay/). Connecting an
account you already have once more does not duplicate it: RUIT updates the same one and you lose
nothing.

## What stops working in the meantime

While an account is expired, RUIT cannot work with it: it does not publish, does not update prices
or stock on that marketplace and does not read its orders or its messages. Everything else carries
on as usual, including your other accounts.

Your listings stay published and on sale: RUIT does not delist anything. And if RUIT stops seeing an
account's listings, it does not delete them on your other marketplaces: it pauses the deletion and
asks you on the card, as [Manage your connected accounts](https://ruit.es/en/docs/manage-your-connected-accounts/)
explains.

## The notifications

When an account expires, RUIT sends you a notification such as
**Your Wallapop account has expired**, with the marketplace in question: at most one every 24 hours
per account, and only on the devices where you have RUIT notifications turned on. No email is sent.

If you close the extension's browser, you also get **Extension disconnected**, once per
disconnection.

## With your computer turned off

Turning off your computer does not break anything. In the meantime, your Wallapop and Vinted
accounts show as **Expired** because the extension does not answer, and they usually renew by
themselves when you open the browser again; if one is still **Expired**, press **Reconnect**. In a
bulk publishing job, the Wallapop and Vinted publications wait for the extension for about 48 hours
before they fail: [Publish many products at once](https://ruit.es/en/docs/publish-in-bulk/) explains it.
